Design Philosophy
I am a experiential designer focused on using design as a public service to improve the lives of others. I have a passion for empathizing with users and understanding their context from thorough research. I’m excited at the prospect of using a holistic design approach across a wide range of fields. I am an adherent of minimalist design that meets the users’ needs and satisfies their objectives with as little intervention as possible.
Background
In my previous professional life, I spent five years as an architectural designer contributing through roles to execute and push along design ideas. I gathered field data for projects, refining abstract ideas into 2D and 3D visualizations, and coordinating with design team members and stakeholders. My favorite part was looking at things from all different angles to ensure that the best possible decisions have been made by leaving no stone untouched.
I immersed myself in user experience design through various means: volunteer projects, evaluating previous design projects through a UX lens, a hackathon, volunteering at local UX events and building connections in the field from friends to podcast hosts.
Off the Clock
When I’m not meeting the needs of two young children, I run a side business in event and portrait photography (link). When I’m not doing that, I ride my bike to take in and really experience the world around me. And if you can talk about the NBA or 90’s hip-hop, we’ll become instant friends.
